The book is well written and gives insight and reasons for what the author is explaining. After reading it I committed to the authors request and I am now six weeks into the instructions and have lost 16 lbs and gotten off insulin and glimipride. Cut my other medications in half and hope to be off them when I get to my goal weight. I am very pleased with the book and it's materials. I just wish there was a way to keep up with the menu and recipes that did not require you to have a grocery store in your pantry. One must make almost daily trips to get the things you need for the recipes, and the quantities you are required to make are all to large. I will need to learn how to halve the recipes. I have gotten into my 36 pants this week from the 38/40s I have been wearing.

For those who subscribe to this doctor's opinions, the book is fine. Personally, I found his plan of selecting, cooking and eating such restricted foods too impractical to follow. Despite his genuine sincerity about his plan, his approach is more of a "guilt trip" if you don't instantly adhere to the whole plan. Hope it helps others, but -- not for me.

I just read Joel Fuhman's Book: "The End of Diabetes." Doctor Fuhman offers plenty examples of how his readers can take control over their health by altering their eating habits and concentrating on adding nutritious foods to their meals. He backs up his recommendations by giving examples of real case studies of people who have consulted with him. I was impassioned enough by his presentation to begin following his recommendations. After only two weeks of following Dr. Fuhman's diet recommendations and his recipes I have already lost twenty-three pounds. I recommend buying the book if you are looking for a way to take control of your health or simply wish to understand how what you eat can have a large impact upon your health.

This book is packed with nutritional information based on a lot of research, all documented. I like the author's no nonsense approach to why people get chronic illnesses, specifically diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. He offers solutions that work. It does take a willingness to try and eat differently, but I have been working on it and feel great. I would recommend this book to someone motivated and willing to try healthy eating.
Diabetes, cancer, and heart disease are all connected. Dr. Joel Fuhrman (author of EAT TO LIVE has written another amazing book.
