The ability to play an evening's worth of music at the touch of a single button is one of the small pleasures of the high-tech age. That is why Technics continues its popular line of five-disc CD changers with this new model, featuring MASH for exceptional sound and all boasting the Quick Disc Rotation System to cut silent "interludes" to a minimum.Model SL-PD788 employs bi-directional, drawer-style platters, so disc change time is a speedy seven seconds (about the time between tracks on a single disc). And after the music starts, users have the flexibility of changing any of the four non-playing discs thanks to Technics' innovative disc-load design. Ever stock a changer, hit "Random" and forget which disc is playing? No more. Technics makes it easy to know which disc is in play with a simple-to-read graphic on the front display. Each disc location is represented, with the slot currently playing clearly marked. For top audio performance, this CD changer employs the MASH 1-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The MASH DAC virtually eliminates distortion so even the smallest sounds are faithfully reproduced with pristine digital quality. The new model also uses an advanced digital servo system with completely automatic adjustment, for even greater reliability. Before play, the changer scans the CD for problems or flaws, adjusting laser operation individually for each disc. As a result, this changer plays through warpage, dirt and other minor imperfections that can cause CDs to skip. In addition to sequential playback of all loaded discs, there is single-disc random play, full-carousel random play and spiral play. This mode puts a new spin on the flow of music by automatically playing the first track from each disc, followed in turn by the second, third, fourth, etc. Since many discs put the top songs and title tracks up front, this is a great way to enjoy the "greatest hits" of multiple artists. Listeners can also program up to 32 tracks - from one or more discs - in any order. Or, they can simply program the songs they want removed from the play list. This "delete programming" even works in the random mode. Of course, listeners can also repeat a single track, one disc, all five discs or programmed songs.Product Identifiers
