I just wasn't sure that this contraption was gonna make all that big of a difference over oven pizza, let alone grilled pizza. I couldn't have been more wrong. It really does capture the heat, and grilling pizza at 700* with the wood fired taste made all the difference! I used bread flour for the crust, coated the peal with a mix of bread flour and cornmeal then constructed the pizza right on the peel. The result was a perfect crispy bottom crust with a light, fluffy interior. The toppings cooked to perfection and the cheese melted just right. The flavor rivaled any restaurant stone oven pizza I've ever had. The best part is I made it to my liking, at home and had fun throughout the process.
Overall, I know this is a tool that I will get lots of use out of. Easy to assemble, easy to use and the results are outstanding. I recommend the KettlePizza for a family night pizza party or adult night with equal enthusiasm. Your kids will have fun making their own pizzas and the adults will marvel at the taste and quality of your pizza. At peak temp (700+ degrees) expect your pizza to cook in roughly 3 minutes.
I suggest having an extra peel or 2 and a couple of extra pizza pans on hand. I usually cook 4 10-12" pizzas, with no need to refuel the grill, per meal.
