This iron to me is perfection!
Best ironing experience to date, say I've been ironing since around 17 years old, that means after 40 odd years I have found my optimum iron.
As clarified, I am now quite advanced, age wise.
At 57 my eyes need reading glasses which I spend more than enough time searching for daily. One temp irons remove the need to find my reading glasses. I also find them preferable because i find temp dials to either be quite stiff and fiddly to use or too easily adjusted inadvertently, without reliable eyes to check temp you are ironing at in past I found my sleeve might have nudged dial to top heat while ironing a delicate item; delicate item fit for bin as result.
Also ironing hasn't become more interesting over the years, now find it quite a chore so prefer to keep it simple, not worry about garments telling me what temperature they like the iron to be to meet their exacting requirements - this iron takes care of that.
I don't think it's a miracle, I don't think the iron senses the type of fabric below it and heats in accordance, I think generally we don't need to set our irons to highest temp ever, keep it mid and items get ironed as effectively anyway.
I have used Philips and Russell Hobs one temp irons but prefer this Bosch in that it doesn't guzzle the ironing water as the other ones appear to. It has wider range of steam settings than previous 2, which have only no steam, mid steam or full. Bosch you can gradually adjust from non to full.
Also allegedly this Bosch will set quietly when on its heel, happily accepting it's not being used and only heat back up once you begin to iron once more. How accurate this is I am not too sure but it doesn't puff or pant when left alone as I wander off to find a brief distraction, gently flashes to remind me it's still on and ready to get to work when I can face another round at the ironing board. Feel I could safely leave it in that mode for sometime should my memory really fail and I find I am out and about having left iron switched on back at home, also understand but have yet to fully test that it would auto shut down totally after a while of non-attendance.
Beyond those different from most iron elements. This iron has a great sole plate, which glides. No more burnt bits of clothing on sole plate as that is a thing of the past, so no time fiddling rubbing off bits of black which impacts on ironing everything beyond either by shedding its burnt black bits on to them or by annoyingly feeling scratchy in parts and not gliding smoothly until burnt remnants are fully removed.
Also good shape, not too blunt at front of iron, no sign of calc thus far, good length cord which is also light tangle free and doesn't get in the way - perfect in all respects really - love it!
