Got this at a great price and shipping was fast! The quad core version of the M-4600 can handle up to 32Gb of RAM and multiple monitors, depending on the graphics card installed. It will also handle a mini m-sata SSD for speedy boot up and a 2nd drive for files. It's not able to do the secure boot for Windows, so consider that before you buy one, but it's not a huge issue. The two that I have here has FireWire and it makes it perfect for connecting my older style DV camcorders. Also, has 2 USB 3 and 2 USB 2.1 jacks as well as display port, HDMI, and VGA ports, provided it was ordered that way. When new, these were highly customizable and could be ordered without a webcam, so be aware of that if you want a webcam built in. If you get one with a fingerprint reader, be advised that as it is, it's not compatible with Windows 10. I don't know if there's a way to make it work. Also, there is a touchpad, but it's rather small and takes some getting used to. I'd recommend either a trackball, an external touchpad, or a mouse. Overall, this is a nice laptop that can easily be used as a desktop, but just be aware that if you pay more than a couple of hundred dollars, you're not a long way from a purchasing a newer one that will be more secure online.Read full review

This is the second M4600 I've owned. I also have an M4800, the next generation. I use the M4600 as a virtualization platform running VirtualBox on top of Ubuntu14. It is really a portable lab where you can run several VMs at the same time. This M4600 only has 16GB of RAM like my last M4600 where my M4800 has 32GB. These machines are superb. The only thing I can say mildly negative is that this machine in particular has AMD graphics which is not as well supported as Nividia on Ubuntu. Nevertheless, I still don't have any problem running dual display. In my opinion, it is heavy, a small price to pay for a portable lab. You can probably get something lighter but it won't have the horsepower that the M4600 does. Wireless works on a vanilla install of Ubuntu. There are many ports, USB 2/3, HDMI, wired ethernet, SD port, RW DVD. This M4600 did not have a camera but my other one did. I never used it so it didn't matter to me.Read full review

This a great laptop that has a fast hard drive (SSD drive), plenty of RAM, and a decent CPU for me to do a couple of virtual labs. It's not the latest model, but this has the specs I was looking for the price.

Nice little system with excellent upgrade capabilities. The architecture, unfortunately, is poorly executed. Two ram slots on the bottom side where the battery is, and two ram slots under your keyboard. Definitely not the easiest experience I've had The system itself is speedy and does what I need it to do. I give the Dell Precision m4600 a 4/5 overall.
Great laptop with a brilliant screen, metal body, quick processor, decent Nvidia graphics, and good audio. For a professional video editor it is perfect for light editing on the go.
