high quality with great value
I've used the CTC SLA , and I've been very happy with it. CTC has great customer support, which is absolutely critical for this sort of complex product. 3D printing is not for the faint of heart, which is definitely something to consider when purchasing a machine. I held off buying my own 3D Printer for years, as they seemed to be mainly for tinkerers. I never wanted to spend my time fixing, building, or adding on to a machine. I want to design my parts, work on my projects, and then just print them out when I need to, without all the hassle normally associated with 3D Printing.
I use my CTC SLA to create designer toys, mainly 1/6th scale figures. The surface resolution is so good, that most of the time I don't even use the highest settings. After support removal, the parts can be painted directly with very minimal cleanup. I will prime them, and paint them like any other model kit. This is very different from most FDM printers and it's what sets the CTC SLA apart.
In my opinion there is no such thing as a "silver bullet" perfect solution in the 3D Printing world. It is an inherently complex process, and each technology and product has its own advantages and disadvantages. Having said that, I think CTC has really hit a sweet spot for ease of use, surface quality, speed, and reliability with the CTC SLA. It has been, and continues to be, the printer to beat.
