    Lightweight with great features

I had to replace a solder sucker lost during a house move, and happened on this one. It was not very well machined, to the point where the spring made it fall apart, but a bit of work with an impact adhesive saw to that, and now it works just fine. It has a temperature-resistant ptfe nose which ensures that you can get as much solder off the job as you need, and the nose is removable to ease clogging issues.

False economy, spend a bit more and buy a decent one

Purchased as I couldn't find my RS one and didn't want to shell out for a new one in case I found it. Found this to be very poor quality, little suction power and manufactured to rather lose tolerances. Plunger very wobbly in the assembly. It should not be possible to easily engage the plunger with your thumb over the end, likewise it should not retract fully when released with thumb over the inlet, this one does which illustrates the poor quality. Pretty much false economy, yes it's cheap but it's useless. A £20 RS one will last forever and has great suction.

  • Bargain that does the job

The product is good value for money. You can pay more for ones with a more solid feel to them but this one does the job and is excellent value for money. I noticed the tip is pretty good too, it stands the heat of hot solder without melting. I gave it 4 rather than 5 simply because the professional ones, for use every day, are more robust. Happy to recommend this one for hobby type use.

  • It sucks in a good way!

Aluminium alloy body and plastic, doubt it would stand constant use but it functions. Good suction on releasing spring driven plunger. Nozzle opening a bit large so contact with PCB needs to be firm to catch any solder. Not sure about heat resistance of nozzle in long term.

  • Excellent

I recently had an electronic soldering job and needed to remove solder from a joint. There was too much of it to be able to successfully use solder wick. Once the solder was melted, this pump sucked of the whole blob in one easy go.

  • Poor Quality

This is poor quality. The body is made of plastic and when the plunger button is pressed to allow sucking of solder, the components come apart from the force of the spring. The thread is made of plastic so obviously won't hold. The plunger button also comes away from the rod too. The advert makes it sound like it's made of good quality metal. It is not. 90% of it is plastic. All of this within a handful of times of using it. Poor value for money and would not recommend.

  • SOLDER SUCKER

This item has been working well with my soldering and de-soldering projects--only 4 stars because the tip is of soft plastic----otherwise good product and a reasonable price.

  • Desoldering Sucker

Good little item with plenty of suction. Not used yet but pleased with product.

  • Does the job, reasonable quality and silly low price

Bought this to replace my ancient Maplin one, seems to work well though a little smaller than my old one. No complaints.

  • Very cheap in price and quality. But functional with adjustment.

This solder sucker is great for the price, AS LONG AS YOUR ARE HAPPY TO MAKE ADJUSTMENTS TO IT BEFORE YOU USE IT! The first time it was used it dismantled itself due to the thread being rubbish at the top of the unit. I have used some PTFE tape on the thread and it now works perfectly. In this case the saying "You get what you pay for" is very true.
