  • A "Must Have" For Every Guitarist

I play guitar (hard rock and metal), and before I added the BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer into my amplifier rig, the tone from my amp always sounded "muted and muffled", like a wet blanket was covering the speakers in my cabinet. No matter what I tried to enhance the sound, (pedals, re-wiring the pickups in different configurations, etc.) nothing worked. Then I stumbled across a YouTube video with a BBE 482i being demonstrated with a guitar and amplifier. I WAS STUNNED BY WHAT I WAS HEARING!!. I bought one and the difference is SO huge, its incredible! The BBE 482i turned my amp system into a friggin' monster! After years of playing guitar, I'm finally hearing what my guitar and amp SHOULD and CAN sound like for the first time :). The BB 482i brought out crisp and clear, metal tones and notes, that I've never heard before. The "wet blanket" is finally off my speakers. NOW I know, how the pro guitarists get the tone I've been searching for. I see the BBE 482i in the rack systems of many famous guitarists. I have mine installed towards the end of the signal path: guitar into Tuner, then into distortion pedal, then into equalizer, then into the BBE 482i, then into the MicroVerb4, then into the power amp. If your guitar and amp sound dull and muffled to your ears, wake them up with a BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer. You won't regret that you did.

  • BEST AUDIO PRODUCT EVER

I own, or have owned products that are considered the near highest of high-end. My favorite product ever is the various BBE's I've owned, over the past 30 years. Biggest improvement in sound, of any single product, regardless of price. (Never mind that it's practically free, which is something I'll never figure out!!!) Beautifully made and extremely good looking, with its thick aluminum faceplate. If this were marketed by a "boutique" company, it would easily be $2k. Be certain to use really good cables, for both audio & a/c. Do not dial the settings up too high. (I never go past 1 o'clock for either) Use an Elfix device or multimeter, to find correct a/c polarity (true for all equipment). Keep interconnects clear of a/c wires and use some sort of isolation cushions beneath this BBE. In other words, don't treat this as a "cheap" item, or you will not realize the greatness.

  • Home Stereo Review!

It was a breeze hooking this up between my Denon AVR-X7200WA receiver and Hafler Pro 5000 power amplifier, driving my Klipsch KP301 II's. It also didn't take too long adjusting the Process and Lo Contour to my taste for best results. I've found sometimes i need to adjust the Lo Contour for different music. I also had back off the bass on my receiver because of the Maximixer's Lo Contour. The Hafler sounds so spacious that the Maximixer's Process had little effect on my ears at first, but after listening for a short while i could tell it was little money well spent.

  • A Nice Piece of Equipment

This is a well built product for the price. To be honest, like another reviewer stated, "it's like an intelligent equalizer..." It does add presence to the sound (music) at a price due to an annoying ground hum that a power conditioner, high end cables will not arrest. My unit could be defective, but I've read others had the same issues as I. I will keep it for now. If I had to rate it between 1-10, I'd give this 8.75 b/c of ease of use and it does as advertised, minus the "acceptable" hum, which keeps it from being a 10.

  • Better center channel vocals.

Use for my home theater center speaker. Definitely helps with vocal clarity. I don't use for music at all.
