Fairly quiet, compact and solid device for adding diversity to my overall fitness plan
Compact. Quite quiet. Slightly heavy for its size-- but sturdy. A little awkward to use while standing at first but after a few minutes it seems fine. Uses different muscle groups than other exercise devices (including larger ellipticals) in back, legs and knees in a beneficial but low-stress manner. Not too difficult to assemble-- especially if you have someone helping you. I haven't tried using it while sitting so I can't comment on using it that way. I weigh about 175 lbs. and am close to 70 years old. I have a grab bar near where I use it to help me keep my balance. I think I could probably use it without the grab bar though-- especially if I were younger. Since receiving this (several days ago) I have used it several times and my knees and back seem to be tolerating it fairly well-- although I have only used it for 10 or 15 minutes at a time so far. I want to gradually increase the time I spend using it to make sure I don't encounter any unforeseen negative side effects since this device uses muscles in a somewhat unique way compared to other ellipticals and other exercise devices. I do a fair amount of walking and swimming to stay in good shape so I may tolerate this device better than other seniors who may not be in as good of condition. I guess time will tell but so far it seems to be a good complement to my diversified fitness plan,. Other seniors should probably consult their physician or at least take it slow at first to err on the side of caution initially until they are sure they are able to tolerate using it well. I do believe most people can get a fairly good workout with this device. I'm not sure this device should replace all other forms of exercise but should just be one part of an overall diversified fitness routine.
