A good deal for a good product.
Metcal has produced quality soldering equipment for years. I bought these two Metcal base units because one of my two Metcal base units has died after 18 or 20 years of use. It blew its fuse. The old one was working great until the fuse blew. It had accompanied me through many engineering projects. Note that these are the black boxes, not the hand-held tools or the tips. The tools last about 5-10 years - the cords break. The tips wear out at the hot tip but they last 3-5 years of frequent use. The two new-to-me base units are working well. They do show some external wear due to someone using sandpaper? to clean up the outside. Or maybe some coarse scouring pad. Dum.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
