I use this for baking (sourdough) bread. It is big enough for a 500g round loaf and performs at least as well as a cast iron casserole for this, giving a good "oven spring", and is light, easy to handle and cheap compared to the alternative. For actual casseroles cast iron has many advantages, but for baking bread, in my opinion, this is the best option.
