Excellent HD set top box for its cost

Aerial connection fell off a tv so bought this to create an aerial to HDMI interface to allow tv to continue to work. The unit set itself up straight after being switched on and put the channels in a sensible order. The remote control functionality is pretty logical. When moving from channel to channel the time of the programme it goes to seems a bit odd sometimes, but can always work it out quickly. It is a simple and low cost unit that works well and I'm very pleased with it

    Won't do timed recording

I should stress that I have been using a similar machine, by August, for many years so I am fully familiar with its operation. This one appears to take instructions for timed recording but then ignores them. The field is left completely empty. While setting up the new box, I noticed that the PVR logo differed from that of the August in that it is pixelated and distorted (picture 1). For comparison, this is the image from the August (picture 2). I should explain that I've moved the latter to my garden shed as an radio and MP3 source so I've only attached a tiny monitor intended for a car reversing camera. Hence the quality but note the PVR logo matches the others. The Teknikal box formatted my USB3 stick (picture 4) and reported no difficulty in locating the memory (picture 5). As I say above, it simply records nothing from the EPG. I have, of course, tried several other USB sticks with the same result.

  • Very easy to set up

This HD set looks nice and neat, very easy to set up, and you can record you programmes Only one complaint, there is no guide button on the remote that would bring up a screen showing whats on all channels. You have to move through the channels and then put in on info to see what your watching.... Though it does give you seven days ahead for each channels allowing you to set up any recording you may wish to do

  • Almost a 5 Star

Great value for just over £20 pounds. But a wee bit frustrating that the full EPG does not load consistently leaving only Now and Next guide which limits recording options. Also unable to upgrade software manually although Auto upgrade seems to function. Otherwise I would have given 5 Stars. If your looking for a basic box to give you HDTV maybe on an older telly or to add to one with built in Freeview and red button service the this is worth the money

  • Works Well. Good Value

At the price I wasn't expecting anything stunning, but it's not at all bad. Setting up is very simple and the picture quality is good overall. I must admit that I failed to read the full description and was somewhat naively expecting it to have a hard drive for recording, which of course it hasn't - you have to insert a USB! The build quality is adequate; I can't comment on the electronics, only the case and buttons etc. I think for the price it's fine

  • No ceefax red button

This set top box was very easy to set up,BUT,when i started to use the set,I realised that there was no red button for ceefax .This is very frustrating as i like to read the news, weather, sport results etc on the red button. If i had known before i would not have purchased it.

  • Cheap box that does what it says.

Freeview channels were easy to set up on this box receiver, but it took a little to while to get the recorder to work as this was not clearly instructed on the manual. Only allows you to record one channel at the same time. Over all performance of this product has been good.

  • The Quickest, Cheapest way to restore an old TV

Excellent Product From Cosmetics thru to build quality, price and performance. Easy to set up and use with a very clearly written Manual. First Class

  • HD channels only

It works for HD channels. The EPG is terrible and on HD doesn't even come up with words. Haven't tried the record function so can't comment on that. I just use it as a cheap way to get freeview HD on a TV which only had standard digital channels. Seems to need to re-boot / get the channels again every few weeks to be able to use the HD ones as channel 101/102 etc as the EPG can't do it. I just use the EPG from the normal TV. It is good value, but wouldn't like it to be my only way to get TV channels

  • Lightweight and compact with great extras

Got more than I bargained for with this. Bought it purely looking for a freeview set top box. Its so easy to set up.. just plug in your scart lead and aerial and okay it, channels set up instantly (in order) no messing around. Handy recorder to tape programmes and usb port to play back pictures etc..Picture quality excellent. I am so pleased considering the great price. I ordered it early evening and I couldn't believe it, it arrived the next day. Pleased all round with product and service.
