Excellent protection for the price
CATI body armor is an excellent choice for armed civilians. I think Level III multi-hit steel plates makes the most sense for us, since we don't have a ready re-supply of expensive ceramics. In a grid-down scenario, where re-supply is impossible, these plates can take hits and still keep functioning, versus the "one and done" ceramics. So I think it's a good compromise between protection and durability over the long haul. CATI plates are one of the few that actually laser cut and press form their plates, rather than torch cutting and bend-braking them. So overall, it's a better made product that offers superior strength. They are also affordable and readily available. The down-side of steel plates is the weight. They are 4-5 lbs heavier than their ceramic counterparts. They will reduce mobility and the amount of ammo you can carry. However, this must be balanced against their ability to take hits and still be useful. They are also Level III versus the Level IV of ceramic. So the better ones will still stop most common threats, even M855 "green tip", but the ceramic Level IV will stop the higher velocity sniper rounds, whereas the steel Level III will not. I prefer a plate that will stop most threats, but is still usable, versus a plate that will stop practically all threats, but will probably be unusable after one hit. Not sure about these plates
I've seen some youtube videos on the plates and green tips zipped right through them. They're supposed to be rated for 5.56 but green tips are steel core so... idk if other ar500 plates will stop them. But what I don't like about them is the Spall coating it just a thin layer. I've seen some where the coating on the front is as thick as the steel part of the plate making them twice as thick as these plates. One shot on these plates and the coating is gone and the next hit on these plates and you're getting spalling in your face. But for the price I guess they're ok and theyll shield your vitals from pistol fire.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I don't know who could complain about the quality
These plates I've seen tested multiple times on YouTube and they stand up. Spaulling is mitigated by the coating. Without it I wouldn't buy a set of plates. I wished CATI made more products. Well they are plates.
Got them today rather than Thursday as they said it would be shipped. So great! Feel. 10. Build 10. Quality 10. All in all besides the cheaper sticker on the strike face these plates are solid. Only bought this set to shoot before I use them for everyday use. By the way I’m a QRTF we deal with a lot of events and celebrities. Looks like it will stop a bullet
I was confused about which body armor plates to get....until I saw CATI video of them shooting multiple rounds of various calibers at the same plate. WOW. That sealed the deal for me. Excellent value from a trusted brand
These plates are an awesome value for level III armor. The coating is pretty thick and should help with corrosion over time. This package came with trauma pads (foam absorption pads) that fit great in my carrier. Im using a Condor MOPC and will attach a few pics of how they fit. Thank you CATI.

Great plates
For budget plates these are the best. They’ll stop multiple hits with next to no back face deformation. I recommend getting spall bags or spraying them with a few coats of truck bed liner to mitigate spalling since the build up coat isn’t an option.
