When you first open the box and a lot of very thin metal and wobbly boards fall out, you ask yourself if you've made a terrible mistake. Alas..Once assembled, these are remarkably strong and stable. I read reviews of them being wobbly but they are not. I'm certain that those people did not assemble them properly. Standing on a flat floor, they do not wobble at all. You WILL need a mallet to get these together. They knock together with tabs in slots and they're a tight fit. Which is what you want. Once they're driven in properly, they're very secure. (This is wear I think the bad reviews come from.) I bought four. The first one took me about 25 mins to work out and assemble. The next three went up in ten mins each. I am a mechanic though. I'm used to assembling things. The shelves are a composite board. I wouldn't put a full sized Motorcycle engine on them. But I would put smaller heavy parts on them. I can't imagine anyone breaking these shelves unless you're trying to store very small and heavy items that could overstress a certain section. If you got the boards wet, I would imagine they would lose their strength. At less than £20 for a set of freestanding shelves, I think they offer outstanding value. They also came in less than a week during NY lockdown. With Hermes.Read full review

It is good value. Instructions could be better I am 75 years old and I had to spend some time working out how to fit it together. I am a nut and bolt fan so I will look for one which uses these for my next purchase. It has to fastened to the wall or it is unstable.

Each part is very flexible, but when put together the right way it's really sturdy. The feet can be difficult to put on, depends on the batch. Hammer is good for that. And it can be quite difficult to get the tabs into the slats. But it's a very cool design, and can be reconfigured easily. The whole range is very hackable, and my 5-year-old helped me build it! I only wish I'd taken some photos during the build, for this review. There are front-to-back cross bars to support the shelf, and the tabs need to be pre-bent. I recommend a little past 90 degrees and then bend back as you need to, as then they'll flex away from the rest of the frame and it'll be easier to get your "standard screwdriver" behind the tab to bend it round. I also have a workbench made of this tech, and it's really great too.Read full review

I found erecting this unit quite a battle as trying to clip all the metal parts together quite time consuming even though the answer is to use a screwdriver to open each slot. I would recommend finding a bright area to construct these units as they are in black and can be difficult to spot when each connection has been made correctly. I tried to complete this task in the shed and found it difficult to see properly so the remaining units were installing indoors where there was plenty of light and as they are not that heavy it was easy to transfer the units back to the shed later.

I spent a while looking for something not too bulky as I don't have much room in my motorbike shed. This is perfectly sized for my needs. It's light and easy to move if needed. I like the colour and quality of paint finish but it's easy to scratch I found. Building it took a while but I only need to build it once. Took my time, figured it out, made a few mistakes either using the wrong bit, wrong orientation or misaligning the lugs causing them to bend and be a pain. Ideal tool for fixing the lugs are long nose pliers, which I don't have. The unit is quite unstable and I had to come up with a makeshift anchorage to the wall. A bit of a pain as I didn't want to put holes into my metal shed. Happy with what it holds for my needs and I'm confident it will hold much more weight than I can put on it. If you are looking for putting heavy items on it to use it to manufacturer's specifications, securing and stabilising it to the wall (or some other way) is a must for safety. Saying all that, I'd buy another one if I need it in the future.Read full review
