Good GPS, Bad mounting brackets.
First let me say that the 8Pro has good features. However: The XM unit is very fussy, it seems to be "learning" if that's even possible. But signal dropouts have to be fixed with total reboots of the system. For a simple signal receiver in a moving vehicle this is not acceptable.
Second thing is the magnetic mount. Very clever but it would be nice if it was strong enough to hold the unit. Freeway potholes result in the front-end unit being thrown to the floor. Average about four times a day.
My thinking is that the long-term fix for this will probably involve some Gorrila tape to hold the unit more firmly to the mount.
The GPS unit seems to be pretty good, although I do miss the miles remaining to destination feature of my old cheap GPS.
So, will I keep the 8Pro? Yes, but if I knew then what I know now, I'd probably pass on this one.
