Reliable burner that should not disappoint
What is good about Pioneer optical drives is that they release firmware updates on regular basis so you can be quite sure the drive will have the support of the latest media etc. So when you are serious especially about burning, these models might be the choice. Firmware flashing is super easy, you just need to download a self extracting archive from their website and if the drive is connected it automatically starts and checks the firmware version and offers a possible update. Flashing takes only a few seconds and can be done even through SATA to USB converter. I tested this drive by burning a single layer Verbatim HTL BDR (43804) at 4x speed and everything was perfect. Stable burning and super fast verification reading. I also tried to rip a regular blu-ray disc using MakeMKV and again 100%. The only drawback of these Pioneer drives is that you cannot use them for ripping a 4K ultra HD discs but there are other blu-ray burners on the market that can deliver that feature. One of the more versatile DVD readers on the market
I bought this to play a couple of DVDs that look like they weren't licensed normally that my LG Blu-ray player couldn't play in this pioneer played them perfectly I did however noticed it was a slightly bigger size drive Bay about 10 mm more than my previous one so I had to make some modification movements in my computer to fit it but that's on me for having a compact build I'm sure this wouldn't cause anyone trouble with a bigger normal sized full case or even a mid-sizeVerified purchase: YesCondition: New
