Over 65 years ago the Wiarton Town Council of Wiarton, Ontario Canada sent invitation letters to Chambers of Commerce in Germany. As luck would have it, a German entrepreneur by the name of Hans Heidolph Sr. owned a company that sought to expand into North America. Upon receipt of the letter, he decided to include the town in his expedition to find a location on the North American continent. In 1954, Hans Heidolpn Sr. decided on Wiarton. He purchased property and an old factory which he refurbished. His initial intent was to continue the Heidolph motor-winding business in this new location and he named the company Canadian Fractional Motors. Years later, the name was shortened and Caframo Ltd came into being.
