Like the Rescue Itself, Fascinating but Expensive
It starts with a tragedy of incompetence and ends as a triumph of patience and ingenuity. The wreck of the Costa Concordia was twice the size of Titanic, full of fuel oil and toxic chemicals, an eyesore for the people of Giglio and in constant danger of sliding into deeper water. Setting her upright and getting her afloat took two and a half years and cost more than two billion dollars. If shipwrecks and mammoth feats of engineering are your groove, this DVD is for you. Unfortunately, there is a bit of a "Nerd Tax" involved: I bought two major feature films at the same time and they were both a quarter the price--and twice as long.
