ReviewsThe Guardian UK - A documentary as gripping as any thriller, Time Out - Lovingly made, beautifully shot and wonderfully soundtracked - this is timely, important and truthful cinema, at once bitter, nostalgic and unexpectedly uplifting
Brilliant study of when Britain had a police state!
Brilliant, honest & engaging. The only down points for me were the misspelling of South Kirkby as "South Kirby" in the captions, no mention of either Agents Provocateur or the undermining of local police officers (and their generally - up to then- good relationships with the pickets & communities) by the thugs shipped in from the Met. Other than that this is a superb documentary.
A visual commemoration of what happened to the mining industry by a Government of the day hell bent on destroying working class solidarity in the work place.
It is as bitter to see now as it was back then and remains a crying shame that so many politicians who purported to be Socialists stood by and did nothing to help the mining communities.
