Overall essential release kind of must have . Fleur De Lys were one of those bands that nowadays are classified as “ obscure “ “ cult “ , nevertheless back in a day they were quite well known and respected. Now about this CD / album of so called “ Definitive Collection “ …… “ Including every track that band released …” . Well despite that claim by Acid Jazz people that’s false statement unfortunately and misrepresentation of the actual fact . These 25 tracks including demos and at the time non releases are not all of it that band ( including different monikers) have had released. There’s at least dozen tracks even released at the time that are not included here . To start with one of their biggest hits ( which is absolutely essential) Butchers And Bakers or B side of great Hold On - Reflections Of Charles Brown and so on . So be sure this is not definitive or ultimate ( all of it “ release “) . Mastering of the disc is a lot to be desired also, namely one could say fairly decent but not at all that great and defined or refined mastering yet alone remastering .Somewhat dull , flat sound that reminds us of those first CDs at the begging of CD era circa early 80’s . Also in my case ; though CD was sealed in shrink wrap with a hype sticker , once I’ve opened it and looked at the disc ( which I always do ) it has few minor scratches and greasy fingertips all over it , which indicates that was used , returned and repackaged ( by distributor presumably : please note this is most probably nothing to do with seller, I’m sure that they themselves aren’t aware of it ) . Also case has few scratches and signs of being hand held with , again fingerprints all over it . All in all relatively satisfied with item ( since this is “the best “ at the moment one can get in regards to this great band … until someone gets it truly right and do justice to them and do proper job in releasing “ true definite and complete recordings “ of Fleur De Lys .
