Perfect for checking the line after it fails to make sure it isn't any other telephone base station at fault
The main landline/phone line went down. Before you can report it you have to check all your phoned etc, the sockets, the cables & the cables going into the sockets. then you have to check the main box where the line comes in with a corded phone. & then they say you should get another corded phone in case the first one didn't work properly. I didn't have a corded phone so rather than borrow one that i couldn't trust i got this & trusted that it should work. it did. the phoneline didn't but it could at last be reported. within 20 mins BT confirmed it was their problem & in 2 days they fixed. was without access to landline for a fortnight. This phone is good for checking such problems but very limited in useful capacity because as a corded phone you need 2 hands to carry the handset & base unit if you need to move at all or write information down while talking. Does The Job
I've previously bought cordless phones which haven't lasted that long and have even bought new rechargeable batteries for them, which again haven't lasted. For the amount of calls we get to our landline I didn't want to spend a lot and this was the cheapest phone that I found with good reviews. It's simple, but does the job I want it for. Cheap and cheerful security standby phone
It’s important to have at least one corded phone for security reasons. If you had an emergency and had a power cut, you wouldn’t be able to use your landline if it was connected wirelessly to a base station. The only choice would be a mobile phone or a corded one. The other reason is in our house we don’t always remember where we’ve put the phone . The corded one is always in the same place connected to the wall phone socket.
