This film certainly had its problems. Robert Shaw and the director both died of heart attacks during production, the script is pretty disjointed plotwise and the usually reliable Lee Marvin seems to be sleepwalking through most of his scenes. On top of all those problems, the much-vaunted avalanche special effect plus the later action sequences all seem pretty unbelievable. Probably unintended but the film actually feels like a remake of the train journey in the Bond movie "From Russia with Love" but badly executed.
