This was clearly explained, easy to use and the end result was precisely what I wanted. As someone who had no experience of helicoils before I was pleasantly surprised at how simple it was.

I have bought a few of these over the years, mostly for one off jobs, different kits for different threads. This one is typical of the price band. It definitely works, but it isn't perfect. You will need a proper tap spanner for the thread tap, and breaking the driving tang off inside blind holes is not easy. Also the thread inserts are quite short, so no good for deep holes. It does work though, and it's very good value when compared with the alternatives, so I would recomend it for those on a budget.

I used it to helicoil 4 removed BMW exhaust stud holes in the cylinder heads [motorcycle]. The kit has everything apart from the 'engineer's tap wrench 1/4" '; you will require this to turn the tap, which has a square head unsuitable for any other device that I know of. That's about another £6. The ? shaped device is for placing the helicoil into the tapped hole: this has a depth ring which is secured by a grub screw (allen key supplied). My grub screw gave up the ghost immediately after being tightened which may be problematic in future! Apart from that it's good value for money, I think...

Everything you need to do the job, one of the things I really liked was the guality of the drill bit and tap, should do many jobs which will make it great value for money.

Used to renew threads cut in an alloy casting on a Kango hammer. They are subject to a lot of vibration and when bolts work loose the alloy threads are soon destroyed. Worked perfectly and now as good as new.
