Turpentine substitute is one thing, but turpentine substitute substitute is quite another. My first impression of this product is that it's just soapy water. Even the instructions state good for cleaning emulsion brushes.. When used on gloss brushes, it's just like cleaning with soapy water. Trying to pre clean surfaces made very little difference, resorted to white spirits for that task. Plus side virtually odourless, slight hint of washing up liquid. Unlike regular brush cleaner, will not remove sticky label residue. If eco friendly brush cleaner is your goal, try this expensive soapy water, personally, I'm going back to white spirit and let extinction rebellion worry about the planet.

Hard to review honestly as I don’t use it for painting. I use oil based inks for lino printing and wanted something more environmentally friendly and less smelly for cleaning and it’s good on that score. I have to use more of it than white spirits and scrub a bit harder and the ink sometimes “splits” and gets tough to remove. When this happens, I use it in conjunction with ”Zest It”, another less smelly cleaner that is more effective but much more expensive . I’d use this one again though as there’s no smell, it’s cheaper, and it’s better for the environment.

Definitely more enviromental friendly than white spirit and it does the job as good as white spirit without the smell.

Perfect for use around those who can't stand the smell of White Spirit and it does the same job.
