I had 5 of these used on my new stock fencing by a contractor, & within a matter of weeks three had ripped apart completely & one had approx 1/8th inch left to go before it would split, though it hasn't budged & is still, surprisingly after more than a year, holding the wire. The remaining two sound ones are fine. The contractor eventually came to inspect & said he'd never seen Gripples split apart in many years of fencing til my situation. I don't know if this was a faulty batch of gripples or what - but the fractured-off face of one had an aero bubble effect. Wires springing loose under pressure are not safe & could spear an animal in the eye. I hope my experience is a rare one.
