Informative and entertaining
This book about Kirk Douglas' film making effort is both informative and entertaining. The narrative is a fine balance between Hollywood history and Mr. Douglas' personal recollections, the tone is personal but not conceited or arrogant. Kirk Douglas, who is going to celebrate a 100th birthday this coming December, is as impressive a storyteller, as he was an actor and a producer. His book is a lovely commentary of some of the most glorious times in Hollywood and some of the most difficult times for American democracy at the same time.
