The authors describe the social and political context of Magna Carta in a way that is both easy to read and full of historical information. I felt I learned a great deal about a period of English history that I had previously known rather little about. There was enough to interest me that having read it, I have put the book to the bottom of my reading pile to read again in about 6 months as there was too much to remember in one read through, but it was good enough to want to read it a second time. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone interested in knowing more about medieval life and times in UK, which was a period when many of our institutions were first formed, including the foundations of the British legal system, the great English universities and the introduction of marriage banns to name just a few.Read full review
