Give it a try.
I have used Virkon in my Koi pond for many years now. Since doing so I have eliminated the problems at the start of the spring season that always saw problems with the fish coming out of their non-eating phase. As I am not a water scientist I have never been able to prove it works but it certainly appears to. Relatively inexpensive, to my mind it is definitely a worthwhile product in the armoury of keeping my fish healthy.
