Bought this having to cover 3 tier chocolate mud wedding cake in white butter cream.. My tips get whitest butter you can buy.. Presidents butter was the palest . Start off beating your butter to get it pale as possible .. Start by adding your Wilton Whitener until you get desired colour.... Then start adding your icing sugar .... I done it the other way round I added to the icing sugar and butter but by my 2nd batch I'd cracked it... Doing it my 2nd way you loose less whitener too. I do recommend this product and while it cost bit more on eBay than cake shop. It sort of equalled cost out than having to drive to cake shop 12 Mike away . I bought 2 bottles and probably used one in total due to my first way of doing it... I still had big bowl of buttercream left over . I used approx 2pks of butter. Excellent product. Can I just add I covered the chocolate mud cakes in white ganache which I also used the Wilton Whitener in .. Got it really pale could of carried on until pure white but decided not too.Read full review

Although this is a big bottle you need a lot of it to make the cake/ icing white. I don't know if it would have gone white the more I used, and it does work, but it is expensive to have to use so much for the achieved result. I didn't want to waste it. So if you get a small bottle it may last one cake, but that's it. IT colours icing better..

Just what I wanted! Took on advice from previous reviews and coloured the butter first! It did take a whole bottle (was making enough to cover a huge cake) but turned very yellow butter into white very easily! I will pass on the advice to shake bottle before use! I didn’t and ended up with settled colour down at the bottom, I just added a little milk and mixed it up to get it out! Other than that very happy and will be ordering again!! X

I've only used this twice, once to whitening my buttercream which it did, which you don't get with others really and then I used it to help me achieve my blue ganache by adding in the white it helped balance it out the white chocolate drops and the blue colouring. I would recommend and buy this myself again. 5*

Very good food gel colouring. I ordered in white to turn butter cream from its usual yellowy colour to white to make snowmen cup cakes and it did take a few squirts of it but it did its job and didn't make my buttercream runny like alot of colourings do. Would buy again. I could have added more to make it even whiter but I was happy at the colour it was.
