Stupid design - almost impossible to find the right drill bit.
I bought this product so that I could put up some shelves at the weekend.
I saw that it needs a15mm flat wood bit to make the hole for insertion into the plasterboard.
I get out my set of wood bits, and find that I have 12mm or 16mm.
My previous experience of this type of product is that the hole in the plasterboard needs to be accurately made; if not, the fixing will perform poorly.
I wasted 3 hours of my day visiting various hardware retailers, including Screwfix, Homebase, B&Q, and The Range.
I could buy a 14mm bit or a 16mm bit, but NONE OF THEM SOLD A 15mm WOOD BIT.
Of course, you can buy a 15mm bit from Gripit if you want to wait a few days.
What a stupid, stupid design!
If they had made it 1mm bigger or 1mm smaller it would be easy to obtain the correct bit in pretty much any DIY store.
I threw Gripits in the bin and bought some conventional fixings.
The only thing the Gripits will be supporting is the local landfill, which is where this product richly deserves to be.
These fixings are very fragile and easy to break, it is very difficult to know when and if they are in the correct position to withstand the weight suggested.
