A lot more sophisticated than it looks.
I use several wide-necked vintage guitars and I ran into trouble yet again on stage with a spring Kyser capo that I used on my Nationals (I couldn't seat it right and it got in the way). I had tried a Paige capo before on my standard Martins and found it fiddly to put on the neck and it too seemed to get in the way, so I gave it away. Anyhoo, I decided to try again and bought one for my banjo, liked the way it sat happily at the nut until required and how it could be positioned without my hand pushing it diagonally nut-wards on the treble side as I played. So I bought the classical model and used it diagonally with the bass side against the fret and the treble side further away. It worked and everything else was fine - quick to adjust, feather-light, happy with heavy bass strings (60 thou) - the only thing that it doesn't really do is sit out of the way on the nut when not in use. It works loose and rattles, so I just take it off until required. It didn't get five stars because it's not perfect, but what is?
