Great item and peace of mind
Our house is quite cold, so we have previously had trouble getting wine yeast to ferment. Having put this band on our fermentation bin three days ago, yesterday the wine started bubbling away merrily, and shows no sign of stopping! The band was easy to put on, and had instructions for fastening via the reinforced holes for larger vessels, like ours. I now know why our fermentation bin has a couple of indentations around it - it's made with this type of heating belt in mind. While there are cheaper belts listed, this was the cheapest which met UK safety standards (double cable insulation) - really important since this is on all night. Does the job
I've had this on for a week now and it sends to work. I was skeptical as to how it would perform, worrying it might overheat itself, overeat one part of the brew, etc. But all seems good...its bubbling away nicely. Great piece of kit.
Highly recommended. Does exactly what it's supposed to. The good thing about heat belts as supposed to heat mats, is you can adjust the temperature by raising the belt up or down the fermentation bin. This eradicates the need to spend around the same or more again, for an extra thermostatic device. I fastened mine about two-thirds of the way up to keep a constant 25C. Worked a treat. Does the job very well
I used this in an unheated room in our house which is quite cool to brew wine and was a bit sceptical that this would keep the wine at fermentation temperature but it did. I used it to heat a 25 litre vessel with a ‘ready in 7 days’ brewing kit. The wine was ready in 6 days! The description says that there is no thermostat in the heater but it appeared to switch itself on and off of its own accord. I left the belt switched on 24hrs a day.
