This is a great little demagnatizer. The strenth is not that of the "original ones" from the 50s to 70s where you had to keep things clear around a 6 to 10ft radius. With this, the range is reduced (see youtube where the range is correctly measured) and so it means you can use it without affecting other things around it. There are no instructions with this item, so you will need to visit Analogue Seductions website and view the product there. In the description there is a decent run down of how to use. One thing I was unclear of is whether the red shrink should stay on while in use. I found out that YOU MUST keep this attached to avoid damaging (scratching) the heads/metal parts.

If you own a tape deck (either cassette or open-reel) and want it to perform at its best, you need this handy little demagnetiser. After using it on my cassette deck (a Denon 3-head) to demagnetise the tape path (capstans, guides, and heads) it brought the deck back to like-new performance by restoring the high frequency response, punch and dynamics.

High quality construction. Works well. You can indeed feel the difference after you use the demagnetiser. Totally worth the money. Using it 3-4 times a year should keep the tape head in good nick.

it can fool my compass neadle, I use it on demagnetised cloth for vinyl records and IMO it works. I touched this pin and had a goose bombs on my back, which mean it change a electric potential load on my body too. not a voodoo. it works and it is cheaper then electromagnetic gun

My tape echo sounded amazing after using the demagnetiser on the heads. Noiseless and really clear and better than its ever sounded. I’d like to point out though that I followed the advice of using a high concentrate alcohol cleaner and demagnetising while it was drying

When I switched it on, I was sceptical because there was no noise at all coming out of it (similar products reviewed on YouTube do make the noise). Then I just did a little experiment... Took two magnetised screws, treated them with this product as per instructions and it worked well, none of the screws were magnetic after the treatment.

I have said that this unit is well made, it is, but to be honest I bought it as a safeguard, as I'm not entirely sure that it actually does anything? That is not to say that the unit doesn't function, it does, but whether it is noticeable after use on a tape deck is debatable. To sum up I think that I would recommend this unit, as it is better to be safe than sorry!! Many thanks!

This unit (or one indistinguishable from it) has been around for many years. It's simple and effective. Well worth having if you own any kind of tape recorder.
