Simple And Very Effective
The damping ring was easy to install and fits nicely round the platter of my Audio Technica turntable. I noticed a difference in the performance of the turntable straight away. Previously I could detect a faint noise/rumble when the platter was spinning but this is now gone. I also get the impression that the platter is more stable now. Very happy with my purchase and can happily recommend it to others.

Solved sibilance problem on my glass platter.
I added this platter damping ring to the 12mm glass platter on my Rega Planar 3. I have made a few upgrades (including changing the platter mat) and I liked the sound of my turntable but had a problem with sibilance ie splashy bright sounding treble particularly on the ‘s’ sound of some vocals. I was unable to listen to certain records because of this and was considering changing to an acrylic platter but decided to try this first as a cheaper option. Adding this item has solved the problem of splashy bright treble completely. At first I thought the sound a little muted but it was just a change in the sound I have now got used to and find much better overall. There is no loss of detail, and the bass seems to have slightly more weight and depth too. I can’t say if the speed stability is improved in my case, but it is certainly no worse than it was. The width of the platter is now the same as the edge of an LP, so a little extra care is needed removing and replacing the record with the platter turning. And it takes a little time to place the ring perfectly straight so there isn’t a wobbly appearance to the platter as it turns. For the price of one LP this platter damping ring has effectively given me back several LPs I had stopped listening to, and improved the sound of my Rega deck overall, so a great result. If you use a glass platter and have an issue with sibilance in the sound I would recommend trying this.
