The best value, most versatile and unassuming microphones I have ever bought!
These Behringers have near-identical specs in terms of frequency response, capsule size (18mm/0.71") and self-noise to pencil mics costing over 10x as much from top-name manufacturers.
The online manual (PDF) is incorrect in that the frequency response graph for the omni capsule is actually just a copy of that for the cardioid capsule! In the printed manual that comes qith the B-5,, the frequency responseof the omni capsule is shown as essentially flat throughout the entire audio spectrum - which more like what you would expect from an omni.
Unfortunately the English section of the printed manual is mostly in German!
The 16dB self-noise and 150dB max SPL are both impressive and better than many large capsule microphones can manage. In short, a pair of B-5s can cover almost any recording or live application.
I also bought a Behringer UMC202HD 24 bit/ 96Khz USB-powered interface with ultra low-noise preamps and 48V phantom power to compliment these B-5s. The noise floor of the mics to their max SPL would use up all 24 bits of that resolution!
Buy a pair, add a cheap stereo bar and you are ready to record acoustic ensembles and choirs unobtrusively using the mono-compatible XY or the more eclectic ORTF configs.
Highly recommended!
