Too difficult and erratic performance
When I can get a good "Manual" focus under the right light and shutter speeds, it can take a very good picture. That's about one in 200 shots... even with a tripod. The problem is you lose about two stops of light and auto focus (that's on all 3 of my lenses). It works better with slow shutter speeds, your lowest number f stop, and 800 or less ISO... Most of my shots are noisy, blurry and dark. But, every once in a while... I get one that is really good....but it's rare. I can't afford a $2,500 500mm lens.. so it's better than nothing.
