Great at 44/24 bit ...with other brands
The quality, functions, preamps, sound, converters, and software are all awesome. That's the second thing you care about. The first, is whether or not a UAD duo is enough.
The answer: yes and no
Yes, if you have other plugins you like to use in conjunction with UAD. No, if you want to use UAD exclusively. Even at 44/24, you won't have enough power to use a UAD compressor, eq, reverb, or whatever on every track. However, you can do that on more than a few tracks and use different brand plugins on the others. I don't have massive track counts, maybe 20 at most, and I get a lot out of the duo.
If I didn't get the Apollo 8 duo at 20% off, I would've waited until I could have afforded the quad. Even if you get the quad, I bet you'll want to buy a sattelite; you'll love UAD plugins that much.
