Set in a dark vision of the near future, a terrifying reality TV show is taking place. Twelve boys and twelve girls are forced to appear in a live event called The Hunger Games. There is only one rule: kill or be killed. When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her younger sister's place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.
A great trilogy, not too complex but a real page turner!
Having watched the films and realized that I hadn't really seen any of them all the way through I thought I should perhaps read the books and see why they ended up as films in the first place. I am very glad I did as there is something about reading these books that tells you instantly that they were ripe for a film! Well written and real page turners they are not complex books but just make you want to get to the end of each book at get on with the next. I will now watch the films all the way through and will no doubt be able to spot the differences but it will not stop me reading them again pretty soon. I haven't really any idea what age group they are intended for but as straight forward escapism they are brilliant!
Can't put the book down ! Although I'm not a massive fan of the films I've decided to read the books and didn't regret it. A great entertaining read with so many emotions !
