PIONEER H-R99 decks are built very well. I have bought two off eBay. Cleaning heads, capstan and replacing belts are a must. You can even adjust tape speed inside if you know where to look....just follow the 2 wires coming from the belt motor. Use a small flathead screwdriver and make SMALL adjustments.If you dont have a tone tape use an 8 track and play it along to either the same music on a cd. You will know quickly if the tape is running slow of fast. You will eventually get it "close enough". Some lights may be not working but thats normal. Replace with a lightbulb kit if youre handy with delicate soldering. I prefer my Wollensak * track...it has an auto eject button thats killer. It is built like a tank.
