It's the first Layton game in 3D, and the transition is done nicely. The characters are still colourful, recognizable and cartoony. The puzzles don't focus too much on the 3DS new functions and there aren't any puzzles that reappear too much so there is a nice variation of puzzles. The story is what you expect from a Layton game: a bit on the wrong end of the border on Suspension of Disbelief but I don't play this series for the story anyway. My biggest complaint is that I found a character that I probably was supposed to like utterly selfish, unable to connect with others and greedy. Not to mention the idea that to be faithful is to never stop (or begin) mourning. The series is getting a little bit darker, but luckily not too much. Some people will not like the dungeon chapter, but I think it was okay. Overall, it was a nice experience.Read full review
