OK for some applications
Bought it to control the speed of a washing machine motor I wanted to use on a project. Unfortunately it wasn't successful as the reduced voltage (to reduce the speed) reduces the power too much. Apparently I need a different controller that gives short pulses of full voltage thereby reducing the speed but maintaining torque. Works as it Should.
I use this to control the speed of a washing machine motor (universal type) on a small lathe. Does what it's designed to do, but bear in mind with this kind of motor you need to increase the power as the load increases or the speed drops, so in my application you're constantly adjusting the power as the cut progresses. It should be fine on constant load applications. There are devices out there that use the tachometer on these motors to adjust the power automatically using a TDA1085C i.c.

Good dimmer but no speed control.
It has a clean circuit board. Quite steep curve for lowering voltage, probably about 1/3 to half a turn. The beefy radiator connected to what it seems like a lirge triac. Won't heat in use, but also won't change the actual speed on my motor. It either start at full or not at all. At measuring, still does what it says: dimms the voltage steppless from 230 to 0. Overall: mixed feelings. Doesn't do what I hoped: speed control, but does dimming. Still, good value for the price.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
