Fresh and insightful playing that is also well recorded.
Five stars definitely yes, but "amazing" as the five stars imply is the wrong word. This set sits along side all of my others and offers a fresh interpretation on these seminal works. No single artist has the monopoly on this repertoire. Brendel's mid to late 70's recordings are the ones I always seem to go back to but that is not intended as a criticism of this Barenboim offering.
