Classic Locomotive model
The English Electric Class 5 prototype was a bold attempt on the part of the company to increase it’s world-wide sales. Unfortunately, the prototype did not generate any foreign sales and the BR Class 55s that we’re produced look vastly different from the prototype. That said, the prototype is a beautiful locomotive and Bachmann did a splendid job in bringing it to OO scale. The shape is correct, and the nose especially so. The locomotive rides just right on the trucks and the colors are beautiful. This is a fantastic model and I am glad I could pick one up at a reasonable price. Tough to find, as they were available only from the British National Railway Museum, their value is sure to increase in the future.
