The 3.2 megapixel camera lets you snap clear photos of places you visit and the device tags your location, and you can use the microphone to record thoughts on your experience. Then, you can revisit your experiences anytime by putting the Micro-SD card that stores the data into the SD card slot on your computer or tablet. The Magellan eXplorist 510 GPS unit has both button controls and a touchscreen to give you a user-friendly way of interacting with the device. The two hard buttons are designed to be programmed with your two favorite functions, so you can bring them up on the screen with a single tap. The OneTouch favorites menu on the touchscreen adds twelve icon points you can program with favorite waypoints, so you can add or remove a waypoint with a single touch on the screen. Whether you’re sticking close to the coast, exploring a lake, or wandering out of your comfort zone, the handheld Magellan eXplorist 510 GPS receiver unit is your map assistant. The pre-loaded map in the Magellan eXplorist 510 GPS World Edition comes standard with maps of Australia, Canada, the United States, and Western Europe that include major roads, water, cities, and rural areas with a shaded relief area background to make it easy to see the cartography. If you’re interested in geocaching, download pertinent information about nearby caches to this Magellan eXplorist GPS and then use the built-in satellite compass to go for a little treasure hunt. Each paperless cache you download shares more than 20 points of interest at the waypoints provided, such as how difficult navigation of the terrain is, and comments from other geocachers who have visited there in the past. The Magellan eXplorist 510 GPS lets you check on the type of terrain conditions you are boating, hiking, or driving into, and you can count on the long battery life of 16 hours from each pair of AA batteries. You can also tuck extra batteries in your case, which is available as part of an accessories package.
