This is a dream rig. From LW to 2M, all modes, including Aircraft AM receive and NOAA weather FM in the 162MHZ band. NO COMPROMISE on any band or mode. LW tunes the major navigation beacons better than rigs I've owned that specialize in the low bands, with no BC band overload. AM BC band is a dream, better than specialized radios for this band. HF ham bands are fantastic, with excellent noise reduction, great signal reports, and fun to use, usable band scope. 6M is excellent also. HF and 6M share a common PL256 antenna connection - tough to find on many rigs. 2M has its own antenna connection, which makes sense, and 100W all modes is a dream on 2M. I love ICOMs approach to memory storage and easy knob turn to switch between memories. I can easily move from a 40M CW net to a 40M SSB contact to listening to AM Aircraft band to NOAA FM weather band to AM broadcast or LW beacons, with a simple turn of a knob. I can't speak highly enough of this rig.Read full review

I first bought one one these several years ago (I forgot exactly when) after I upgraded my ticket to General; it was my second HF rig, and an upgrade. But I gave that rig to my (also General class HAM) son during a move and during a period when I was inactive in the hobby. But I missed HF, and when it came time to buy another rig, there was no doubt in my mind which one to buy... this one. Bought it on eBay a few weeks ago, set it up and started operating. Made my first two contacts on 17m using a portable antenna (I'm in a restricted community); both reported excellent signal and great audio. The internal antenna tuner works very well, as do the great series of pre-amplifiers and noise filters. There are better, slicker (and more expensive) radios out there, but I really like this rig. I am having to learn it all over again, but the book does a great job of getting to the heart of the matter, helping me to look up what I need, or providing guidance when needed. I'm a professional technologist (computer industry for over 35 years) and the documentation is a CRITICAL component of any product-- ICOM does it right with this documentation. In short-- I have no complaints. Only kudos.Read full review

I purchased this radio from a "First Class" ham who obviously took great care of this radio while he had it. I will keep this and handle it with excellent care. This radio performs flawlessly and compared to other radios, I'm sorry - there's no comparison. Well thanks again for selling such a fine piece of communications equipment. 73's

It is of the view offering 2 meters as well as 6 meters. The 2 meter performance of the receiver is quite good being .20 Uv sensitivity. The SSB aspect is great .
