Alpine SWS-12D4 car audio subwoofer has perimeter venting which allows fresh air into the subwoofer to keep the voice coil temperatures cool for optimum performance.     Good speaker, but over rated on power handling. Get the type R or type X if your running 500w+ RMS.

    Hits the low frequencies well. I had this type S for 2 weeks and blew a coil. Sounded good, shook house windows, set alarms off. But on my amp rated max at 650w RMS it blew a coil. Which was crappy. Now upgrading to type R, that can handle more power. From what it looks like the type R Iris the way to go for an affordable good speaker or Type X if you can afford it. I would recommend doing the same, just getting a type R to begin with. I didn't know how much beefier the type R was compared to the type S until I watched a Utube video comparing the two.

    Very Disappointed

    I ordered this that was supposed to be a brand new unit and received junk. When I installed it, it didn’t even sound good. After further investigation I come to find a cut/tear in the speaker. You can’t even see it until the music plays and the speaker sounds weird. I am very disappointed.

    I love it

    WIth Alpine you can never go wrong!! I am currently using it for my outside surround sound and it sounds killer!! My surround sound can't even push this sub to rock yet it hits hard.

    Better than my RF P3SD4!!!

    Not quite broken in yet but I like it better than the Rockford P2 and shallow P3. The sound is better than the L7 I used in the same car! For an $80 entry level sub it will surprise you.
