It looks and feels strong and durable but feel it wastes too much of the centre when spirilizing carrots etc. I've yet to try it on apples/pears as they are not ready for picking for another three months at least. Then it will be put to the test well and truly as my spare freezer will be switched on in August to store the prepared fruit from our garden for the winter months. Besides this I will be using it to prepare the apples and pears for chutneys and the brewing buckets. I sincerely hope it performs in this better than it does with carrots as for the last few years my husband has had to hand crank an old fashioned peeler/coring unit as I lack the strength to do more than one at a time by the manual means!
