The Missing Link Now Sorted, These Are Incredible Speakers.
This NS-P51 speaker package is a decent sounding set, there's literally nothing i do not like about them, I have the matching NS series front floor standing speakers to these so now have the full 5.0 speaker package, notice i said 5.0 and not 5.1, there's absolutely no need for any subwoofer with the complete speaker set, the front main speakers play right down to 29HZ with only a 2.5db reduction in volume, once you get the whole set these are incredibly good sounding speakers, i also use the yamaha RX-V557 5.1 amplifier to keep everything balanced, this is one of the best sounding surround amps ever made to my ears, ive tried everything, denon, onkyo, pioneer, sony and nad, the yamaha setup blows all these out of the water. What do i like most about this surround package? well no1 for me is is sheer crispness of any audio source, the tweeters are incredible (which is very important for hifi sound) the midbass drivers are also truly excellent in producing all the midbass frequencies, ive in the past paid more that £89 for one surround speaker never mind 3, and these still win. The break in period is 20 hours, after this they will sound absolutely incredible, these speakers shine for music and film soundtracks, they handle everything very very well indeed, there is no distortion, there is no sharp peaks in the audio spectrum and there is no boxy sound, this is due to the quality of the speaker drivers themselves and the cabinets, the cabinets are very well built and heavy for their size, my rears are mounted 2ft 6in above sitting ear height fixed flat tothe wall with the supplied mounts, and the center is mounted on the wall under my projector screen, the tonal balance and sound quality these little speakers produce is really very very good indeed, If you like your music and you like it to sound accurate then buying this set will be the best thing you ever did. Ive only owned these for 2 days and already i'm hearing things i didn't with my previous onkyo speakers, the crispness/sharpness and midrange bass response is just incredible, the center for vocals is just so so good, and projection of the rear stereo image is amazing with the rears. Now going back to the subwoofer thing, yes its true buying one would be a waste of money as the front main speakers are so rich and deep sounding, they're practically subs especially when they hit 29HZ, buying a sub would be pointless in fact, i play all my dts audio and dolby digital films from my pc, from there you can route the sub channel to the fronts so no sound is lost from the mix. I use media player classic with the K Lite Codec Pack (free download) from the settings you can send sound to any speaker in any order, as i produce my own music and master it to DTS 5.1 this is a thing of beauty. The detail of sound for the price of these is mind blowing, these rear speakers are good enough to be used as fronts providing you have a subwoofer, no joke, all the speakers are 6Ohm rated so they will work on any amplifier without damage. The rear speakers have holographic sound, with quality flac recordings the singer will be right in front of your face, this is something ive only ever experienced on my very expensive monitor audio speakers (6 times the price of these) I mounted my rears upside down so the tweeter is at ear height, in turn it sounds incredible with stereo or dts software. As for the build quality itself of these surround speakers, well it's very good, in fact totally unheard of with other brands at this price point, these are budget speakers with a premium sound, a pure pleasure to listen to these, everything is there bass/mids and sizzling highs (providing you use a good amplifier) i have also noticed they are incredibly sensitive, i had to turn up my old onkyo speakers much higher to get the same volume level. The finish is a dark brown/redwood and they look lovely, even the binding posts are of high quality. These are NOT ported speakers, they are sealed (best type for surrounds) i will also mention the front grills are non user removable, and all three speakers have mounting posts at the back, so you can just hang them directly on the wall, or use dedicated brackets, mine are mounted flat to the wall and the wires are all hidden behind the plasterboard wall and routed under the skirting boards to the yamaha amplifier, the amp is connected to my pc with a single optical cable, in turn there are no wires showing anywhere, i also fitted a 5.1 wall plate to neaten things further. These have filled the missing link for me, they are just incredible, i love yamaha stuff, such good quality. Don't hesitate to buy these they really are that good. Im an extremely fussy person when it comes to things like this, I would go as so far to say these rear speakers sound better than my Monitor audio br1 bookshelf speakers now thats pretty impressive.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
