makes nice live recordings with 2 microphones
Easy to use, makes crisp clear recordings with room mic's. Portable and small footprint. Flashcards still obtainable and cheap if you shop for them online. Also has the usb port connection option which is handy. Also can extract on laptop using a card reader. No moving parts and quiet as a church mouse. Much better sound recordings than using a handheld built in mic digital recorder.

A good unit that is great for some applications
Passed by new 24-bit, 96-kHz solid state recorders, the Marantz PMD670 offers balanced inputs and outputs in the 16-bit, 48kHz Compact Flash-based recorder. Input pre-amps are a bit noisy, so I use mine to capture over-the-air radio programs. And for this use, it is a clear winner, especially with the on/off record switch input. This could be driven by a timer to record for a pre-determined time period. These are a reasonable value below $100 shipped price. A word of caution. These have a removable battery holder for the 4AA's required for battery power. Inquire if it is included on the unit you bid on.

Marantz 670
I am a court reporter and I have used the Marantz 670 (2 Channel) in my courtroom for years. I now have two courtrooms and I have one in each courtroom. The one I got off of Ebay, is working wonderfully. I did have to go through the Menu and set up the two channel settings. It was sent to me set up for Mono -- however, I just read the manual and set it all up and now I'm good to go.
