Fantastic,,you'll love this receiver
This will be my 5th Denon AVR I have bought over the 30 years, everyone has been the best Surround Sound Receiver... I have owned other High End Receivers equipment from Pioneer, Sony, Marantz, and teyed them and most of them just carp out... but all of my Denon's have been outstanding... the main reason I buy new are that sound on movies keep advancing Teck and software, my last Denon X4000 was fabulous, sound was amazing, but could not decode the new Dolby Atmos... Now for the good ,, the first time we turn on the system is was the easy to set up ,,, and the 4K Movies will blow you off your seats,,,, so if you want to go from 5.1 decoding and move up to 7.2.4 decoding I recommend Denon Incommand X series, plus if you have a Smart TV, the two talk to each other, you turn the TV on and the Tuner Receiver Turns on and set itself to the AudioVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

OVERALL ONE OF THE BEST RECEIVERS I'VE USED AND RESEARCHED!!!
If you're not into separates and you have an addiction for adding speakers to your home theater, then look no further! This 8500 is packed with goodies and built solid as a tank! I enjoyed the set up features and mic calibration, which I didn't like on my old Sony. The remote and tv display functions are easy to use and very helpful. If there is one complaint, I'd say the volume is quite low... meaning volume settings 0-30 are about worthless. You have to get above 30 to even hear sound... at least in my short time of using this unit. I will change this if I discover this is not true over time. Excellent imaging, and future proof features
I cannot overstate how great a product and deal this receiver is. At 13.2 channel amplification, this is not only the worlds first 13 channel receiver, it is future proof in its HDMI capability. With new specifications and tech standards constantly changing, future proofing is a constant headache. With this receiver, denon provides an 8k future spec with passthrough with current 4K, Dolby Vision and HLG standards. In the event of the future standard requiring a hardware upgrade, denon has options to upgrade at a reduced cost. As to the receivers abilities, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro 3D (via a FREE firmware update in the future) are processed with ease. My system is currently configured in 7.2.6, and in comparison to my previous Onkyo TX-NR1030, this receiver’s imaging and connectivity truly make it a one stop product for home theatre enthusiasts with deeper pockets. My only two complaints as of this writing are that the eARC connectivity will only be implemented in a future firmware update and not out of the box, and its Audessey room correction is a little TOO aggressive. Some minor complaints are the inability to process 15 channels for through an external amp, despite its 15.2 channel analog preamp outputs, and it only having 2 pre outs for subwoofers. Not related to the product’s capabilities is a lack of compatibility with Harmony Hub remotes (as of this writing, a future update for complete implementation is in the works). However, these small drawbacks are more than made up with the receivers pure raw power, DAC hardware, HDMI capabilities, and intense and mind blowing imaging and clarity. Headroom is excellent with 150 Watts per channel, and a beautiful A/B amplifier design. I am currently driving THX certified Onkyo speakers, with two Definitive Technology Supercube 4000 subs and six Polk SW3 overhead speakers. I will be upgrading my speakers near the end of the year, and I look forward to hearing more what this receiver can do.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Happy with purchase
Had an older Denon top of the line receiver and replaced the AVR-X6400H. I am pleased with the sound quality, as good as the older receiver with more features at $2000 less then I paid 10 years ago for the one it replaced. I would say that is a great value for the money. Only glitch on set up is trying to perform a WiFi firmware update, it times out about 1/3 of the way through. Denon support sent me some of the issues to trouble shoot and haven't gotten to it yet. True Clarity
The difference between this and my Onkyo is night and day. Very clear with all channels sounding very independent. Cheaper AVR's do an okay job, but this Denon really brings out the detail in my speakers. I am very pleased with it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
